eLearning Certificate Pre-Conference Workshop


9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Lunch will be  provided


This five hour workshop will teach you the basics of eLearning. The first part of the workshop will focus on eLearning theory, how eLearning works and when to use it.  The second half will be hands on creation of an elearning course using iSpring Suite.


Topics to be covered:

  • Knowing when to use eLearning
  • Design Considerations
  • Understanding your audience
  • Budget and resources constraints
  • Understanding e Learning tools
  • Learning Management Systems
  • Graphics Editors
  • eLearning Design Basics
    • An overview of the basic flow and design of a standard eLearning course
    • How to “budget” the design (and therefore development) of your course
    • The process of designing an eLearning activity from scratch, including design considerations for asynchronous experiences
    • How to use narration, on-screen text, layers, and interaction to create a cohesive experience
    • Basic storyboarding techniques
    • Which design considerations need to be thought through and documented in order to make the most of development, create solid learning experiences, and avoid wasted work


Hands on learning

  • Bring your own laptop (BYOL) with MS PowerPoint
  • Pre-load the free 30 day trial of iSpring Suite eLearning authoring software.
  • We will be building an elearning course from the ground up.
